【摘要】:Theexposedmetalsurfacesatjoints,fittings,anddamagedareasinanotherwisecoatedpipelinewillbesubjectedtocorrosionifallowedtocomeincontactwiththesoilenvironment.Theperformanceofjointandpatchingmaterialsdesignedtofunctionasprotectivecoveringswilldependuponsuchfactorsastheabilityofthematerialtobondtoboththepipecoatingandexposedmetalsurfaces,theintegrityofthemoisturesealatlappedjoints,andthewaterabsorptioncharacteristicsofthejointmaterial.Theexistenceofsubstantialleakagecurrentthroughthecoatingjoint,patch,orfittingisreliableevidencethatthematerialhassufferedasignificantdecreaseinitsperformanceasaprotectivebarrier.Inasimilarmanner,measuredchangesinjointcapacitanceanddissipationfactorareusefulbecausetheyarerelatedtothewaterabsorptionrateofthejointmaterial.Waterpermeatinganinsulatingbarrierincreasesitscapacitanceanditsprogresscanbemeasuredthroughtheuseofasuitableimpedancebridge.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesdeterminationofthecomparativecorrosionpreventativecharacteristicsofmaterialsusedforapplicationstojoints,couplings,irregularfittings,andpatchedareasincoatedpipelines.Thetestmethodisapplicabletomaterialswhoseprincipalfunctionistoactasbarriersbetweenthepipesurfaceandsurroundingsoilenvironment.1.2Thetestmethoddescribedemploysmeasurementsofleakagecurrent,capacitance,anddissipationfactortoindicatechangesintheinsulatingeffectivenessofjointandpatchingmaterials.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitstothreesignificantdecimalsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
